Each year Rockstudios has groups of students who can choose, or are chosen to participate in performance groups. These groups can take part in Eisteddfod competition opportunities that are available on the Central Coast and other areas. Performance groups will also be involved with other events, having the chance to share their gifts and talents with members of the community – for example nursing home visits and community events – as we look to extend our outreach from the school. Students wishing to be involved in this program will undertake a specific range of classes, including Ballet, Technique and Performance Group classes which are compulsory, to prepare for competition and performance.
Involvement in performance groups gives students the opportunity to grow in their dance and performance skills, to increase technical ability and to extend these skills in a competition environment, while still focusing on the fun and enjoyment of dance.
Information on performance groups and fees is available by contacting Rockstudios.
If a student undertakes the Performance Group program, it is expected they will perform at the Eisteddfods Rockstudios plans to be involved in throughout the year, as well as the community events. Eisteddfods usually take place between March and October, dates to be advised.
Solo/Duo classes are booked in 10 week packages to prepare students for Eisteddfod opportunities. Solo/Duo students also attend the Technique class.
Additional rehearsals prior to performances may also be scheduled and attendance at these rehearsals is essential.
Performance Group students will also have opportunities throughout the year to attend workshops with guest artists and may also be able to have private classes with the guest artist. This will incur additional costs for performance group students, but is an excellent opportunity for learning and growth in dance.
