EXAMINATIONS

Opportunities are given for all students to complete their Exams with an external examiner and certificates awarded by the recognised associations. Exams are not compulsory for students, but all students are encouraged to undertake exams as they provide the class with a common goal and allow for clear progression through the grades.

Undertaking exams are beneficial for the students as it extends their technical and performance abilities, challenging them to grow and strengthen their dance Foundations.

For students to be able to undertake exams, attendance at two classes per week is required for those who wish to sit exams. Compulsory for exam students is Holiday Intensive. This involves up to 2-hour classes, Mock exam studio rehearsal, and includes one ½ hour of private session per student, and is vital preparation for the exam process.

We hold examinations in Comdance Syllabus in all styles and RAD Ballet

COST

INVOLVED

When it comes to exam costs there is an entry cost set by the Association. This comes out at the end of February every year. Holiday intensive includes mock exam and solo cost RAD Vocational (higher grades). The ballet exam has a separate Uniform from just all black.

En Pointe

Pointe training is introduced from Grade 5 and up and taught in specialist classes, Age and ability are also considered for safety purposes. This opportunity is offered on an invitation basis to those students ready to go en pointe. Attendance at twice-weekly ballet classes at the relevant grade level is also essential. Flat shoes are used initially to strengthen feet and ankles in preparation for en pointe progression.

Assessment

We take Safe dance practice very seriously here at Rockstudios; for the health of our students, it is essential to understand how they grow before they get onto their pointe shoes; all students need to have 1-3 sessions with our recommended Health practitioner before purchasing Pointe shoes.
